  The Beds

The soil needed digging over after the turf had been removed. The soil was very hard and full of clay making the task very hard.

The students worked very hard all day.

By the end of the day some shrubs had been planted. These included Hebes and  Buddlehias. The Buddlehias will attract butterflies.

A layer of weed suppresant had to be laid around the insect mound and covered with bark.

One group tackled this but it was a bit of a difficult task because of the strong wind.

Another group started the planting.

The plants were laid out in the correct positions before they were planted
The plants chosen were picked because they would attract insects, bees and butterflies.

At the end of the second day the beds looked like this.
