Literacy

Text - poetry with different structure. Allan Ahlberg – Please Mrs Butler. Write using a genre of their choice based on a class theme, plan and write a text from chosen genre, edit and refine, use ICT to publish text, extract information from text. Sentence - correctly  use capital letters and full stops in own writing, use commas to separate adjectives, use adjectives in written work, use past tense. Word - use Thrass to aid spelling and reading.

Numeracy

Mental - double numbers, count on in different steps. Main -  Shape - Measure and calculate the perimeter of rectangles and simple shapes using standard units. Measures - record metres and centimetres using decimals, and other measurements. Record estimates and readings from scales to a suitable degree of accuracy.

Mental -  identify different types of polygon Main -  Number - decide which operation to use for a given word problem. Shape -
identify the different types of triangle.
Science

Moving and growing - Through experiment and investigation the children learn about how the skeleton is related to movement and supporting humans and what happens to the skeleton and muscles as they move. Animals with skeletons have muscles attached to the bones, a muscle has to contract (shorten) to make a bone move, muscles work in pairs,  when someone is exercising the muscles work hard,  make observations and comparisons relating to exercise and rest.

ICT

Word processing - use find and replace to amend text.

DT

Use a template to make an envelope.

Humanities Them here and now - Citizenship - People’s jobs, people who help us - recognise that there are people in the community who support the school and the community,  understand the role of the different people in the community who help us. Community police, Community nurse, Dinner ladies. Brownies and Scouts/clubs leaders. Record a paragraph about each person seen, draw a picture of the person and write a sentence about their picture.
Art

Create pictures for a display - using paint, watercolour pencils, pastels to complete pictures of aliens. One group to paint large alien for display,  use posters as stimulus for pictures of people who help us, design a book cover for We are writers.

Music

Develop techniques to create a sound from a brass instrument (trumpet)

French Speaking and Listening - accurate pronunciation, recognising spoken words and phrases.
RE

Explore the ceremonial use of artefacts in the Islam faith.

PSCHE Linked with Humanites. Why and how rules and laws are made and enforced. Why different rules are needed in different situations and how to take part in making and changing rules.
PE Cricket - Cricket skills taught by members of Cleethorpes Cricket Club. Games football - develop dribbling, passing and receiving skills.
